Re: Michael Bland shares his incredible stories...

I never liked 'Stand Up And Be Strong' that much either to be honest. It's an alright song, but there are far more catchier songs on The Silver Lining that probably would have been more successful as a first single.

Re: First Ave's year-end tradition continues...

Ok great, thanks for the heads up about the First Ave mailing list! And no need to apologize about the flip phone. It's all I've ever owned haha! Dude, are you the same Bono user from the mygnrforum? Yup. Same asshole  Cool. Good to see you're a SA fan too. It was a coincidence that I wa...

Re: Candy From A Stranger 19 Years Old

I remember hearing I Will Still Be Laughing on the radio and realizing they had a new album out. I wasn't online yet in 1998 and magazines didn't really give them much attention anymore so that's how I found out. Even though I don't like the production on this album too much, and I believe the band ...

Re: Best Of 2016

I agree that a band should evolve and I applause them (or just Dave) for still doing that, but Change of Fortune is too overproduced in my opinion. It kinda sucks the life out of some songs.

Re: Best Of 2016

My only gripe is there might be too much production on some of the songs. Maybe go with a new producer next time, they've had the same dude for the last 3 albums. Definitely. Or they should try to record as a real band, by going into the studio together for a month and actually cutting it together,...

Re: Best Of 2016

My favourite moment is when the guitar player left the band without any mention right after the new album came out earlier this year and seven months later they still haven't said anything about it.

Re: 2016-05-20 - Non Comm - Philly, PA

I see he is in a band called the Melismatics, who have opened for SA. Interesting quote : ""A lot of people say we sound like Soul Asylum," Smith said. "I actually never listened to them that much. They're probably the Minnesota band that's influenced me the least."" That's funny because on his fac...

Re: 2016-05-20 - Non Comm - Philly, PA

The guy is called Ryan Smith, a musician from Minnesota, and if you check his facebook page you can find out he'll be touring with them this summer. I don't know if he's filling in or if he's the new guitar player but it would be typical for Soul Asylum to not communicate with their fanbase. Same th...
