Re: Your Most Recent Show?
Saw drivin' and cryin' at Mercury Lounge last night - Findlay Brown opened for them. I love the Merc 'cause it's such an intimate setting - 200 people, tops. Besides the fact that drivin' and cryin' put on such a good show (no set list!), Joseph Arthur and Kraig Jarrett Johnson surprise-guested on a...

Re: 15 new shows announced! (added to shows page)
When I follow the link on the SA Facebook page to a list of shows, I see a show in Westbury, NY that isn't listed here. You know something we don't regarding whether said show's gonna happen?
I'm curious 'cause that's damn close to my house and would be awfully convenient.

As am I. He seemed a very nice, everyday guy - same as the rest of the guys. No swelled heads.OneLovedBand wrote:Glad you got to have a special connection with Dan before he left the band. What you said about being a rariety is unfortunately too true about the world we live in.

Re: Why I love Soul Asylum
Yesterday I wrote a somewhat lengthy response, then lost it 'cause I wasn't logged in. Duh. That said, my major points were these: First, SA's one of the best bands I've seen (and I've seen scores) - the charisma, talent, and skill levels go to eleven. Only having become a fan about a year ago, I mi...

Re: Spin Magazine: The Oral History of Runaway Train
Interesting article - thanks for sharing. My only quibble (with the wording) is what follows the statement below: "...the pressure of trying to manage expectations...altered the band's trajectory in a way that...was ultimately unhealthy. In fact, Pirner is the only band member from that era still in...

Re: No Fun Intended Cover Album
An amusing aside: I think Spotify needs recalibration: I listened to No Fun - as well as some other SA, I guess - so now it's suggesting REO Speedwagon and Nazareth. Um, no.

Re: No Fun Intended Cover Album
I'd love originals, but I'd be lying if I said I'm not excited about these downloads; I dig the vibe and the songs they opted to cover. Also, the format doesn't bother me - I'm not attached to vinyl (or physical copies in general).

Re: Your Most Recent Show?
Kinda abandoned my own thread, but I'm back! So far this year the highlights have been: Soundgarden (great sound, but couldn't see a damned thing due to being stuck in the back) Nick Cave (again, great sound, and a great, personal connection if you happened to be in the first three rows - he didn't ...

Re: Dave on 96.3 K-Twin
Interesting interview; he's not exactly up-front and matter-of-fact regarding Dan's departure, is he? One needs to read between the lines a bit.
