Homesick wrote:It's been quite a while since I discovered any more misheard lyrics of my own, but I have "reverse-engineered" a few that could conceivably have been misheard by somebody.

Made To Be Broken
Real: I'm trying to make myself uneasy
Misheard: I'm trying to sell myself on eBay

Too silly? ;)

Miracle Mile
Real: Now you be a good frog in the fountain of youth
Misheard: Now you play leap frog, hip-hoppity

Standing Water
Real: Standing water
Misheard: Stand in water

This one may be a little far-fetched, but heard this a while back:

New York Blackout
Real: And I may never enlight this darkened city
Misheard: And I may never may like Miss Dark and Silly

I used to get just about every line in Promises Broken wrong. The worst was when I found out that the line 'and every little thing about this town, nothing out there is ever gonna help me, all these words that I have spoken, just promises broken, now' turned out to be 'and every little thing about this tells me, nothing out there is ever gonna help me, all these words that I hear spoken, just promises broken now.' That really disappointed me because I thought I actually could understand lyrics the first time I heard them, and then they turn out to be wrong. I hear it correctly now, though.

I used to mishear another lyric in that song:

No Man's Land
Real: So they built a big smoke stack
Misheard: So they built a baseball stack

I have no idea what a "baseball stack" would be...

Whoa!
Real: "I'm desperate for a buzz" ????
Misheard: I'm desperate to make love

jajaja... I was listening to Whoa! in the morning and suddenly, after 12 years, I didn’t hear the “make love”... jajaja. But I think I'm not the only one who misheard that!! Some lyrics on the web also say that :P

I don't know if anyone can really make claims as to the real and misheard lyrics in whoa.... I would swear there's a want love in there, but i'd have to listen to it more to know for sure, and I'm not really in the mood to track out multiple versions and do that.

Without a Trace
Real: see the open mouth of my suitcase
misheard: see the open mouth, a closet-case (???)

I was listening to "No Time For Waiting" the other day and realized that I always heard the line:

misheard: For the river... Washington D.C.
real: For the river to wash into the sea
