Favorite lyrics/lines
Re: Favorite lyrics/lines
I love Gone Forgotten as well...it sounds great. But it does have one lyric that makes me cringe, and that's that backward cotton candy line.
I just found that so lame.

1 I just thought of...
Though the rain weighs down your wings,
Still the caged bird's got to sing
Though the rain weighs down your wings,
Still the caged bird's got to sing
Don't want to be bored no more..
I know theres so much more
I know theres so much more

hmm i should contribute since i'm posting...
"And I can't carry the guilt and frustration of somethin' someone else said
Now I'm just learnin' to carry myself, carry myself on my own"

Re: Favorite lyrics/lines
Love the ones already mentioned so I won't repeat them here. There's one that's always struck me from the first time I heard it, especially the last two lines:
Nobody told me about any of this in school
No one told me I'd be taken for a fool
And everyone just looks away
And tries to make it through the day.
Nobody told me about any of this in school
No one told me I'd be taken for a fool
And everyone just looks away
And tries to make it through the day.
So frustrated. Get up anyway.
So complicated. Changes every day.
So the darkness fades
And the light, will come shining through.
Re: Favorite lyrics/lines
Like everybody else, I have a million of them (including most of those already posted) but I really, really love:
It aint how much you can take, it's how you take it.
Holed up in a dressing room, without a dress (just cracks me up, I LOVE the lyrics to the entire song)
You live with loneliness or you live with somebody who's crazy, it's just a crazy mixed up world.
I know that there are tons more but those come to mind right away. The lyrics are absolutely one of my favorite things about his band.

A few more that I like...
Some respond to pleasure
Some respond to pain
I'm hanging out to dry
In the pouring rain
She had thirteen kids, each one had thirteen problems
Three uppers, ten downers just to put up with this
Jet fighters streak the air
And where they're going nobody seems to care
I guess we'll just wait and watch 'em fade
I think this is my very favorite though...
Jesus was a hippie
Peace and love was all he was about
That's why they killed him
'Cause that shit's something people can't figure out
Rusty

Re: Favorite lyrics/lines
I can't believe I forgot this one:
My dad must have been drinking
the night I was conceived
a flailing, lost, delirious sperm
a seaman lost at sea
Now that is a Pirnerism for you.
My dad must have been drinking
the night I was conceived
a flailing, lost, delirious sperm
a seaman lost at sea
Now that is a Pirnerism for you.
"Dave Pirner was the coolest motherfucker to wield a low-strung telecaster who isn't called Keith Richards." -- Ginger (Wildhearts)

Every time you move your lips
Let me give you a few tips
Yesterday you were too young
Tomorrow you will be to old to regret all the things you've done....

I think his legacy will always involve rhyming urinal & funeral....CrazyLittleWoman wrote:I can't believe I forgot this one:

Just like the myspace quote, I think the album version loses something on this song. For some reason, the older '97 era versions of it just seemed so much more passionate when it was "It ain't how much you can take. . . it's how you ffffucking take it!". Just seemed so much stronger to me. This is another one of those songs that I'd love to see make it back into the set list. So many of the CFAS songs would be great to get mixed back in. Creatures of Habit is really a much more rocking song than the album gives it credit for.pathorses wrote: It aint how much you can take, it's how you take it.
