Hey, look, I have an account here. Couldn't find this show in the forum so I started a new one - hope that's okay. Anyway ...

Gravity
Into the Light
The Streets
Pipe Dream
Take Manhattan
Homesick
Get on Out
When I Ran Off and Left Her
To My Own Devices
Lately
Oxygen
Just Like Anyone
Misery (with Silly Love Songs)
Never Really Been
Runaway Train
Closer to the Stars
Somebody to Shove
April Fool

Good show, as always. Seemed a bit short at the end; I know they were running out of time, but I figured they had at least one more left, especially since, in all the shows I've seen, this was the first I've ever been to without Black Gold. You would think on a night when they wanted to "play the hits" to a crowd that might not know them, that would be on there.

Still, a really fun, high energy set. Less between song banter than usual, probably due to the time constraints. I think this was the first ever show at the new Space at Westbury - venue was quite nice, and clean (as expected on a first night). Crowd was fairly sparse, but it made for an easy, comfortable front row experience. It also allowed me to get home by 10:30. No offense to Fountains of Wayne, but I was exhausted and have to get up early every day with two young children. Anyone else there from this board?

Really, this is your first ever post on here?!? I find that hard to believe.

Haha. Anyhow, thanks for the setlist, Brian. Five songs off the new album to start the show, wow. Homesick and Get On Out, pretty awesome! Yeah it's a shocker to not see Black Gold, though I guess you could say they traded it for Closer to the Stars which, perhaps not as popularly known, has been cut the last few nights. This is the most they've been mixing things up in, like, forever.

Glad you got to see at least one show on this tour!

Yeah, I don't know why I would have signed up last year and not posted but whatever. I thought 5 new songs to open was a lot and even Dave said something to that effect. They sounded good though and the crowd seemed into it. I looked at the set list from your show and it was crazy how different it was. I love that they're mixing it up.

I was there, up in front against the barrier. I'm pleased that they decided to schlep out to Long Island - made life a bit easier, in terms of getting home. There were some technical difficulties (both with Evan Dando's set and, it seemed, with Justin's guitar), but I suppose that's par for the course when it comes to opening night.

I didn't notice the absence of "Black Gold", as I was so pleased at getting stuff I don't recall having seen live ("Homesick", "Get On Out"). Mildly surprised "Somebody to Shove" wasn't the culminating song, what with the crowd being perhaps a nostalgia one, rather than one comprising hardcore fans.

Was, like others, also surprised at the large block of "Delayed Reaction" songs - but then, I suppose they wanna get people out buying said album.

I'm looking forward to a Webster Hall report - I'd have bought tickets to that as well, but the venue's not wheelchair-accessible(!).

Yeah - management, when I e-mailed, said they'd get me in, but it was sounding very much like, "We'll get a couple burly guys to carry you." While a very nice gesture, that seemed a bit dodgy. If I hadn't had the opportunity to have seen last night's show, I might've given it a try; as it was, though, I decided to attend in spirit only. Missed seeing you as well!

I saw a comment on the Webster Hall thread, so I thought I'd add my $0.02 here regarding the same topic, but at this venue:

Did it seem to anyone else that Evan Dando was supremely uncomfortable (even when Dave came out for a chorus)? I get the sense from the other thread that he's just an awkward performer; never having seen him play before, I have no context. Just seemed a bit.... I'm not sure odd is the right word, but it's the one I have right now.

ETA: I don't mean to impugn Dando's talent - he strikes me as quite so. Just...I've never seen a professional performer (actor, musician, etc.) look so ill at ease onstage.

My sister asked me after the Webster Hall show if Evan Dando was always so quiet. At our show, he just played his songs and said "thanks" periodically. Vocally, I thought he was pretty good. I only saw Evan one other time, a few years ago. I think he was quiet then, but less so compared to the recent show. Perhaps he's just quiet and nervous?

whoa ! dave came out and sang with evan ? what song did they do together?

yeah i can remeber one time in particular, i had my cd and pen in hand, but evan was shaking and looked extremely uncomforable as i approached him. so i turned back , i didnt want to make an awkward situation even more so!

but another night after a show , he came out, had him sign a cd and he sang outside a club with me and a select group of fans. I guess it all depends on how comfortable a place can make you feel, etc.

He is a true artist, and alot of our good artsists are so fragile. At least we still have him today!

thanks all !! didnt know dave came out was wondering if he would.

They didn't do an entire song together - just a few lines (perhaps not even an entire chorus). I'm not overly familiar with his repertoire, so I'll have to ask my husband if he recalls which song it was.

ETA: Also: I've now seen two shows in the post-Murphy era. Justin seemed much more at ease this go-round, as opposed to the Bowery show this past winter. I'm not sure if his clear comfort was the reason, but there were a few bits when it felt...weird. Not bad, mind you - just very odd to not see Dan. (And that's even without "Black Gold" in the set.). It's really a new animal, I think.
