I have got to get to one of these hometown performances before its too late
Don't wait to long. Every year they continue to tour is a bonus as far as I am concerned. I hope they plan to tour next year; Sara and I would really love to bring the kids. They walk around the house all day, every day (and I am not exaggerating) singing Somebody to shove, blackgold and runaway train.

Dan is recently married; maybe looking to put more time into his antique business, maybe spend more time with his new bride, Sara(h). I have heard that Dan doesn’t go out much after the shows; maybe he is tired of the road. It appeared that him and Sara(h) were calling it a night when I saw them walking through the hotel lobby after the show.

Dave has a 5 year son and would probably like to spend time as much time with him while he grows up; before Eli becomes a teenager and Dave becomes that “uncool parent.”  School stuff, baseball, guitar lessons (he won’t have to go far) etc…may pull him away from touring. Kinda like what it has done to Paul Westerberg.

Tommy has the solo stuff, g-n-r commitment etc…don’t know much else.

Michael don’t know anything that would pull him from touring or much about his personal life (not that I need to or should know; I certainly understand privacy.)

reports/reviews have come in!

For a while there I thought the conversion of that drive had scared everyone off so noone even went! :o

Well, the jist of the reports have already been said, so not too much new from me.

However I didn't see anyone I knew until after the show at the bar (at the opposite end of the building it seemed), and those were old friends I had met once (non fanpagers) about 3-4 years ago! No Clammers, no Tracy, nobody! Moto Geek, were you in the 6th row by chance? I was, seat 6 so Tommy was straight ahead of me.

Anyways, I'll attach the setlist that I was able to grab, as well as the lyrics to the "new" song that was played.

Oh, I'll comment on the guest appearance for the night. I do believe that was the first ever guest appearance by Paul Pirner playing with SA. I wonder how many people in the crowd knew who that was??

still working on the attachments. Apparently doc files, rtf nor xml files are accepted for attachments.....

Thanks for finally speaking up, Todd. Been kinda worried about you since you'd expressed concern over being able to stay awake for the drive. So thanks for finally letting us know you made it there and back, safe and sound. :D

Ppl may not have known Paul's name, but they'd have to be blind, or an idiot to not realize that he had to be Dave's brother. The first SA show I saw at First Avenue, I was sitting at a table onlong the rail of the upper level, people watching before the show started, and happened to see Paul walking around on the dance floor. At first I thought he was Dave, he looked so similar (and it was dark) but realized that in addition to the hair, something else wasn't quite right and realized that this person had to be a brother of Dave's. But really, in addition to apperance, Paul walks very similar to Dave as well.

well, i havent been putting it off because i want to, believe me.
there's just no way to make the time or the expense work. granted i'm much closer now than i was...it's nowhere near as far from new orleans to minneapolis as it was from nh, but it's still pretty much out of reach.
hell, georgia and texas were out of reach.

i think that even were they to quit touring as a rule they'd probably still do those minneapolis shows. the holiday show is more or less tradition, and they've never really stopped in all these years, even when they weren't playing anywhere else.

Two comments regarding these pictures... First, is it just me, or is the setlist typeset on a typewriter? The spacing seems kind of funky on there, and doesn't look like something a computer would do (unless you purposefully tried... but why would anyone bother doing that).

On the second note.... I know Let's All Kill Each Other is a new song... but did Dave really need a lyrics sheet for that? There are what... 4 lines to the entire song, and one of those lines is repeated twice.... It just seems extremely unnecessary to me. I know I have a bad memory at times, but I can remember 4 lines when I repeat them . . .

think that was just the scanner I was using and it's attempt at OCR. The original wasn't like that

Sometime To Return - I think I did see you. Rock on!

norma023 - Yes I was in the 6th row. Probably to the "right" of you and across the isle then if you were in front of Tommy. My group was mostly in front of Dan.

Moto...

I live in a suburb of Chicago. The "Village of Faith"... the only thing there are more of than churches here is bars.. interesting eh! Something for everyone to make sure ya get What Cha Need! I was hoping the typo on the set list was on purpose for the cha cha Dave does during the song.

Now Phil.. leaved Dave alone... he is almost a senior citizen now and we have our moments... besides at least it is a new song (YEAH!). I bet (hope) it will get a few more lines.

AH traveling and road trips ... and actually a trip to the hometown show. This has been on my wish list for a long time Twiddle, so I know what you mean. Time, money... Still can't believe Dec. is a plan. I have not told my children yet!?! wish I could have made this one.

Dell, glad it looks like you made it. We have done a bit of traveling to see shows, but by and far the ticket prices have been very reasonable if not free. Better to spend it on the trip and the hotel to see SA and meet new friends, then any other band.

Need to hear Misery followed by Let's all Kill each other, as a tribute to my new job. Lately feels like I should be picking up a frying pan, but I would probably bean someone with it (I have someone in mind). Although Father, sisters, and brothers could just use a bit of duct tape!

Love the string of pearls. Don't thnk I have heard in a long time. Will be checking the posts for First Ave. Hope to see some of you there.

Actually, I did not go to the Hinckley show. It's the Dec. 19th First Avenue show that I'm desperately planning and hoping to get to.
